The University of Minnesota Entrepreneurship Club and Holmes Center for Entrepreneurship are proud to present the 9th BizPitch Competition. This competition is the featured event of the semester and presents undergraduate students with an opportunity to pitch their business idea to a panel of judges and students for a chance to win $1,300 in cash prizes.
The competition is a high energy, super-charged lunch hour event that will have students laughing, cheering and jumping from their seats! It is a fun way for students to showcase their creativity, presentation skills, business knowledge and engage the audience in their idea by making a clever 90-second presentation to a panel of entrepreneurs and investors. Plus, the audience will get into the action by voting for the Overall People's Choice Champion who will take home $100.
The goal of the competition is to encourage students develop potential ideas to pursue your entrepreneurial passions. Past student participants have gone on to launch successful businesses and receive additional funding through the Holmes Center.

Featuring Rasin’ Cane’s
A creative type all his life, Schussler has a passion for conceiving concepts that appeal to the masses. He created several popular restaurant attractions including Blue Suede Shoes, Juke Box Junction, Peggy Sue's, and The Rodeo. In addition, he is credited with developing Jukebox Saturday Night, a nostalgic restaurant and night club featuring a ’57 Chevy, a D.J. booth, and other memorabilia with locations in Minneapolis, Minnesota; Chicago, Illinois; Springfield, Illinois; Des Moines, Iowa; and San Francisco, California. Armed with a love of tropical birds and a burning desire to create an environmentally-friendly family adventure, he began developing the idea for Rainforest Café in the early ‘80s. He had a difficult time persuading others of the plausibility of the idea. To help with the sales pitch, he spent half of a million dollars transforming his house into a rainforest and invited investors to experience the concept first-hand.
In 2000, Schussler founded Schussler Creative, Inc., where he leads the creative vision and overall strategic direction of the organization. | |
